Ever since she was a little girl singing under chairs or tables or under the covers in her bed, Sharon has had a song in her heart and soul.  For her Grade 3 Christmas performance, when asked if she wanted to be a shepherd or an angel, she announced that she was going to sing a solo, and the teacher surprisingly said that was ok.  She has not stopped singing since those early days, even when times were rough.

She started teaching herself how to sight read using the piano at her grandmother’s house, and after a late start with piano lessons, she became competent enough to head out on the road with various duos and bands, playing and singing her way across Canada in the usual bars and taverns.  After the birth of her oldest daughter, she returned to her home town and began classical voice lessons as well as continuing piano and theory studies.

In one of those ‘right time in the right place’ moments, she was hired by a theatre company to be their musical director.  She had always loved both musical theatre and opera, and almost literally landing a paying job with no experience in either field was an amazing step in the direction of developing musical versatility.

Eventually, she wound up back in her home town where she would raise her two daughters, and begin to teach private music lessons as well as continuing to perform in various capacities as a professional musician.  A childhood dream was realized when she acquired a Celtic harp and, after only a few months of self-teaching, was playing it professionally.

At present, Sharon teaches voice and piano in Picton, Ontario, and continues to perform in musical theatre, concerts, weddings, etc.    Sharon also writes songs, some of which were included in her one-woman show, “I Am Woman, Hear Me”, as well as 2 cantatas.

She absolutely believes that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be, and so she continues the journey with a song in her heart.
